Please make sure you're running the game through your launcher as running the game file directly from the install folder might cause errors.

If you're trying to open the game from the launcher and nothing happens, no error message appears on the screen, please follow the instructions below.

1. Repair Visual Studio 2012 (Steam only)

  1. Navigate to \Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Steamworks Shared\_CommonRedist\vcredist\2012

  2. Double-click the x86 installer

  3. Choose Repair

  4. Go back to the folder and do the same with the x64 installer

  5. Reboot your PC and retest the game

2. Download and install Visual Studio 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2022 directly from Microsoft

  1. Go to the Microsoft official download page by clicking here

  2. Install the vc_redist.x86.exe for the X86 architecture

  3. Install the vc_redist.x64.exe for the X64 architecture

  4. Reboot your PC and retest the game

3. Run the game as an admin (Steam only)

  1. Launch Steam

  2. From the Library section, right-click on the game and select Properties from the menu

  3. Select the Local files tab and click the Browse… button.

  4. Right-click the WormsW.M.D.exe file

  5. Choose Properties

  6. Navigate to the Compatibility tab

  7. Check the box for Run this program as an administrator

  8. Attempt to run the game from Steam

4. Change the connection port for the monitor

Check how your monitor is connect to your PC. If the cable goes from the monitor to the motherboard, uplug it and connect the cable directly to the NVIDIA/Radeon video port. If your monitor supports HDMI, try to use a HDMI cable. Then open Windows, open the launcher and try to open the game again.

5. Check your desktop colour depth

Check if the depth of colours for your desktop is set to 16-bit. If so, change it to 32-bit and retest the game.

  1. Right-click your Desktop

  2. Choose Display settings

  3. Scroll down to and choose Advanced display settings

  4. On the monitor, you wish to use, choose Display adapter properties

  5. Then Choose List all modes from the 'Adapter' tab

  6. Choose the mode you wish to use.

6. Uninstall Razer Synapse and Razer Chroma SDK

If you have Razer software installed in your system, please reinstall it with the below steps. 

  1. Type 'Add' in Windows search and click Add or remove programs to open the app

  2. Search for Razer software on the list of installed programs

  3. Uninstall the software

  4. Reboot your PC and retest the game

7. Run the compatibility troubleshooter (Steam only)

  1. Go to \Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\WormsWMD

  2. Right-click on the Worms W.M.D.exe app and choose Properties

  3. Go to the Compatibility tab

  4. Run the Compatibility Troubleshooter

  5. Test the program with the recommended settings and save after the game is launched
