Important: if possible, and as a first step, we recommend going into your router settings and seeing if there is an option to whitelist: t17service.com - if you are unsure how to whitelist certain URLs, we would recommend speaking to your Internet Service Provider (ISP) or router manufacturer for specific steps on how to do this.
Solution 1: Clear the alternate MAC address
Clearing the MAC address on your Xbox can be beneficial, particularly when dealing with network connectivity issues. This procedure entails restoring the MAC address to its default state or creating a new one, which can help resolve various network problems such as slow internet speeds, sporadic connection interruptions, or difficulty connecting to a specific network. By resetting the MAC address, your Xbox may obtain a fresh IP address from the router, potentially mitigating these issues! Here's how you can do it:
Open the Xbox guide by pressing the guide button on the controller
Allow the console to restart when prompted
Solution 2: Power cycle your console
At times, the tried-and-true method of powering something off and on again can be beneficial. Power cycling your console operates similarly; however, instead of simply restarting the console, you're clearing out the cache from the Xbox. This action can assist in resolving various connectivity, hardware, or performance issues, thereby potentially improving overall system functionality.
To power cycle your console, simply close the game and turn off your Xbox. Then, unplug the Xbox completely and leave it unplugged for 5 minutes. Once this time is up, plug the Xbox back in a retest the game.
Solution 3: The microphone doesn't work
If you have any USB peripherals connected to your console, except for external hard drives, outgoing communications may become unusable. To restore outgoing communication, simply remove unnecessary USB connections and perform a power cycle of the console.
Solution 4: Update controller and headset firmware
Keeping your controller's firmware current is essential for optimal performance and compatibility with various devices and software. Additionally, if you have a stereo headset adapter, it's recommended to plug it into the bottom of your controller to ensure it receives any necessary updates as well.
- If you're using a stereo headset adapter, plug in the headset (a headset must be plugged in so the adapter will turn on)
- Press the Xbox button to open the guide
- Select Profile & System > Settings > Devices & Connections > Accessories
- Then select the controller you want to update
- On the Xbox Wireless Controller screen, select '…' to check the firmware version for your controller
- If it says Update, select the Firmware version and then follow the steps provided
- The auto-detect feature of this update may not work immediately if you plugged your stereo headset adapter into the controller while downloading a system update, or while the console was turned off. To fix this, go to the Home screen and unplug the adapter. Then, plug the adapter back into the controller.
- You only need to update your controller one time to use the stereo headset adapter. However, if you plan to use the stereo headset adapter with other Xbox controllers, you'll need to follow this process for each controller.
- If you are using a headset that isn't connected through or compatible with the stereo adapter, we'd recommend making sure the firmware on this is also up-to-date. You will need to refer to the manufacturer's guidelines on how to do this.
