Sometimes, when trying to start Hell Let Loose, you might encounter an error message related to Easy Anti-Cheat. Although the specific error messages may differ, they all indicate that the EAC (Easy Anti-Cheat) system is unable to start the security checkup.

If you happen to experience this issue, there's no need to be concerned! Easy Anti-Cheat errors are frequently encountered in PC games that utilize the EAC (Easy Anti-Cheat) system. Because of this, we've put together a few solutions that might help!

Repair Easy Anti-Cheat

We'd recommend trying to repair the Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC) service on your PC as a first-step before anything else. Often, simply repairing the service can easily resolve the issue. To do this, follow these steps:

  1.  Right-click on Hell Let Loose in your Steam Library
  2. Select Properties
  3. Then go to Installed Files and click on Browse...
  4. In here, enter the folder EasyAntiCheat and double-click on EasyAntiCheat_Setup.exe
  5. Select Hell Let Loose and press Repair Service
  6. Restart your PC and retest the game

Verify your game files

These errors can sometimes be caused by corrupted or missing game files. When verifying your game files, your Steam client establishes if this is the case and replaces any that are missing.

To check your game installation and make sure that there are no corrupted or missing files causing the problem:

  1. Open your Game Library on Steam
  2. Right-click on your game
  3. Select Properties from the menu
  4. In the Properties menu, select Installed Files
  5. On the Installed Files page, click on Verify integrity of game files

Enabling Easy Anti-Cheat

Sometimes, EAC might get disabled or stop running for unexpected reasons or without you knowing. If you are receiving EAC errors or game crashes, we would recommend double-checking that your EAC is definitely enabled:

  1. Press the Windows + R keys to open your Run dialog
  2. Type in services.msc and press Enter
  3. Search for the EasyAntiCheat service and right-click it
  4. Select Properties
  5. Using the dropdown box, make sure the Startup Type is set to Manual - if it is already, we would recommend Disabling it and then repeating these steps to Enable it again
  6. Then restart your PC and retest Hell Let Loose again

Reinstall Easy Anti-Cheat

If after trying the above steps, you find you are still receiving Easy Anti-Cheat errors, you can try uninstalling and reinstalling EAC:

  1. Open your Steam Library
  2. Right-click on Hell Let Loose and select Properties
  3. Select Installed Files
  4. Click on Browse
  5. Select the EasyAntiCheat folder and find the Easy AntiCheat installer file (EasyAntiCheat_Setup.exe)
  6. Right-click on the EasyAntiCheat_setup.exe file and click on Run as Administrator
  7. If UAC (User Account Control) is prompted, click Yes to grant admin access
  8. Once the EAC window pops up, select Uninstall in the bottom-left corner of the window
  9. Then once it is uninstalled, select Reinstall in the same place
  10. Once the Easy Anti-Cheat engine has been re-installed, reboot your computer and retest the game

Add EAC files to your whitelist

In certain cases, adding the executable file of the EAC service to the whitelist of your antivirus/firewall or Windows Defender software can resolve multiple issues. Please make sure the following files are added:

  • HLL.exe - Steam\steamapps\common\Hell Let Loose
  • HLL_BugReportUploader.exe - Steam\steamapps\common\Hell Let Loose
  • HLL-Win64-Shipping.exe - Steam\steamapps\common\Hell Let Loose\HLL\Binaries\Win64
  • EasyAntiCheat.exe - Program Files (x86)\EasyAntiCheat
  • EasyAntiCheat_Setup.exe - Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Hell Let Loose\EasyAntiCheat
  • Launch_HLL.exe - Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Hell Let Loose

To do this, please press the Windows key + I to open your Windows Settings. Then:

  1. Go to 'Privacy & Security' and select 'Windows Security'
  2. In Windows Security, click on 'Virus & Threat Protection'
  3. Under 'Virus & Threat Protection Settings' click on 'Manage Settings' under 'Virus & Threat Protection'
  4. Scroll down to the 'Exclusions' section and click on 'Add or remove exclusions'
  5. Click on 'Add an exclusion' and choose the type of exclusion you want to add (File, Folder, File Type, or Process)
  6. Choose 'File' and then 'Browse' and select the file you want to exclude
  7. Add the above files suggested and then confirm your selection - these will now be added to your Exceptions

Command Prompts

If the error still shows up, click the Windows button and type Command. Then open Command Prompt by selecting Run as administrator on the right-hand panel.

Then type the following lines:

  • netsh winsock reset
  • ipconfig /flushdns

Then reboot your PC and retest the game.

Clear your Steam Download Cache

To resolve any download-related issues or glitches, it is also recommended to clear the Steam download cache from the client. Follow these steps to do so:

  1. Open your Steam client and click on Steam in the top-left of the window
  2. Select Settings
  3. Go to Downloads in the left-hand panel
  4. Scroll down to Clear Download Cache and select Clear Cache
  5. Then click on Confirm
  6. Then restart your Steam client and retest Hell Let Loose
